In the US News and World Report's National Ranking, two YES Prep Public Schools ranked in the top 100 in the nation and four placed in the top 20 in the state. YES Prep schools differ from many of the other schools in the state rankings because 84% are economically disadvantaged and 96% are Hispanic or African American.
"We have a national problem that plays out in Houston: We don't believe as a people in the capability and potential of students of color," CEO Mark DiBella told the Houston Chronicle. "We fundamentally believe (that) although access (to a great education) isn't equally distributed, genius is."
