PLAYERS GO "ALL IN" IN SUPPORT OF YES PREP PUBLIC SCHOOLS
Houston oil and gas industries and partners celebrate YES Prep Public Schools at the record-breaking 14th annual Oil and Gas Texas Hold 'Em Tournament fundraiser.
On Thursday, March 7, 2019, YES Prep Public Schools (YES Prep), Houston's leaders in the oil and gas industry and philanthropic community hosted the 14th Annual Oil & Gas Texas Hold 'Em Tournament at The Corinthian in Downtown Houston. More than 550 guests attended the event that raised a record-breaking $1.42 million to support YES Prep's 18 campuses across Houston which serve over 13,300 students in grades 6 through 12.
Over 75 corporate, foundation, and indiviual sponsors and their guests attended the event that raised $835,000 through sponsorships and an additional $585,000 through night-of-giving at the tournament. Ben Marshall, Managing Partner of long0time tournament supporter Vitol, surprised attendees by announcing an additional $50,00 matching gift from the Vitol Foundation. In a thrilling final round, tournament emcee Bill Heuer of iHostPoker crowned Mickey Barrett, seated at the Vitol table, the winner of the 2019 tournament.
Since the first tournament in 2006, the event has raised roughly $14million and is attended by individuals donning attire ranging from business casual to casino chic to rodeo-ready from various business sectors from across the world in support of YES Prep.
