Rebuild Texas Fund awards YES Prep $165,870 to support students affected by Hurricane Harvey

One year after Hurricane Harvey, not all YES Prep students and their families have fully recovered from the devastation brought by the storm. Yet we remain committed to ensuring every student can reach their maximum potential. To that end, YES Prep recently received an incredible grant of $165,870 from the Rebuild Texas Fund.

Assistance for students affected
The Rebuild Texas Fund grant will provide uniform essentials and graphing calculators to students who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey and are in need of these school-year necessities.

Thanks to this generous gift, 750 graphing calculators will be distributed to students in Grades 8-12 and up to 843 uniforms to students in Grades 6-12. This assistance will be offered at the following ten campuses where students and families were most affected: Brays Oaks, East End, Fifth Ward, Gulfton, North Central North Forest, Northline, Northside, Southeast, Southside, Southwest, West and White Oak.

Surveys will be sent to students to determine their needs and these items will be distributed with the help of campus math teachers, the Academics Team and Student Support Counselors.

Committed to help our students
YES Prep applied for this grant because we are committed to our community and seeing this area rebuild after Hurricane Harvey. We know that rebuilding takes many of us working together to solve big challenges. We are excited to be able to collaborate with the Rebuild Texas Fund in order to assist our students and their families with these back-to-school essentials.

We are deeply grateful for the Rebuild Texas Fund’s dedication and passion for rebuilding and revitalizing communities, including our own YES Prep students impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

The Rebuild Texas Fund supports organizations making an impact to rebuild the communities in Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey in the following six focus areas: community and economic development; health; housing; education and childcare; transportation and workforce; and capital for rebuilding small businesses.
