Charter schools are public schools. Intended as incubators for innovation, charter schools are free from some of the regulations and red tape of traditional public schools. Many charter school systems, like YES Prep, are open-enrollment and serve all students, while others have admission requirements. In Texas, charter schools receive state funding, but do not receive any funding for facilities and so must raise those dollars privately.

On January 17, YES Prep Brays celebrated their College Acceptance Rally. Collins Agyeman was voted by his peers of the Class of 2020 to serve as this year's student speaker.
YES Prep Gulfton's Carlos Hernandez participated in a semester-long program where he had the opportunity to attend the Impeachment Inquiry in Washington D.C.
North Central alumna Mirna Cardenas is YES Prep's first elementary school teacher. She currently serves as a YES Prep speech-language pathologist assistant.
Meet Nzapa'Naye Deborah Kossia. She is a special education teacher and sixth-grade level chair at YES Prep Northbrook High School.
