Every aspect of YES Prep’s curriculum is tied to our mission to empower all Houston students to succeed in their education and pursue lives of opportunities. Our campuses are located across the city and house students from Pre-K to 12th Grade.
YES Prep Pre-K through 5th-grade students benefit from engaging in small classroom sizes with instruction tailored to their developmental stage. Our curriculum fosters a love for learning and prepares students for success in middle school and beyond.
Elementary school students will:
Engage in early literacy and math skills through interactive lessons and activities.
Prepare young students for school structure and routines to promote a smooth transition to formal education.
Increase their creativity and curiosity through hands-on learning experiences in STEM and the arts.
Improve their self-confidence and self-control through positive reinforcement and social-emotional learning activities.
Participate in a varied, engaging curriculum that encompasses various subjects and fosters a well-rounded education.
YES Prep 6th through 8th-grade students are in smaller, college-ready courses, with support and electives built into the school day. Our classroom culture allows for individual attention and student-centered instruction.
Middle school students will:
Spend 90 minutes every day in English language arts (ELA) and math
Read and add 15 books to their personal library
Have access to seven sports offered at the schools
Choose from six different electives offered
Be able to choose from three courses offered for high school credit
Receive a YES Prep-issued laptop for their coursework
YES Prep, our students are held to higher academic standards than their peers in most traditional independent school districts. Our curriculum views the state’s requirements as the floor, not the ceiling, for educational achievement, preparing students for a successful life beyond their high school graduation.
In 2022, all 10 of our qualifying YES Prep secondary schools ranked in the top 12% of best high schools in the nation in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 rankings.
High school students will have access to:
Socioemotional counseling
Junior Varsity and Varsity athletics
10 AP courses for college credit
Science labs, electives and CTE (Career & Technical Education) courses
Summer opportunities (internships, summer programs, study abroad)
