Advanced Placement at YES Prep

Advanced Placement (AP) courses represent a pinnacle in secondary education, offering high school students the opportunity to engage in rigorous and college-level coursework. Created by the College Board, AP courses cover a wide range of subjects and are designed to challenge students intellectually, foster critical thinking skills and provide an in-depth exploration of the chosen topic. These courses not only enrich students' academic experiences but also offer the chance to earn college credit by succeeding in the corresponding AP exams. With their challenging curriculum and emphasis on advanced learning, AP courses have become a hallmark of academic excellence, preparing students for the demands of higher education and contributing to their overall academic and personal growth.

The Advanced Placement Program are college-level courses corresponding AP Exams that are administered once a year.

  • AP courses are available in seven subject categories.
  • Each AP course is modeled on a comparable introductory college course in the subject.
  • Each course culminates in a standardized college-level assessment, or AP Exam.
  • AP Exams are given in May each year at testing locations all over the world.
  • Schools must be authorized by the AP Course Audit to offer approved AP courses and use the “AP” designation.
  • Scores of 3 (of 5) or higher on the AP Exam can earn college credit at colleges and universities nationwide.
