Affording College: Financial Aid & Scholarships
October marks the start of the financial aid application season. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Texas Application for State Financial Aid (TASFA) open Friday, October 1. Starting in the 2021-2022 Academic Year, the State of Texas will require all seniors in the class of 2022 to submit either the FAFSA or the TASFA to graduate.
In addition, students applying to private college and universities may also be required to submit the CCS Profile. All the applications for financial aid help colleges and universities determine students’ eligibility for loans, grants, and scholarships.
Seniors will have the opportunity to work with their college counselors on applying for financial aid during seminar; so be sure to have your 2020 tax return on hand as this will be one of the main documents needed to apply for federal student aid.
