Network of 18 churches and synagogues that will shelter 4 families at a time, on a weekly rotation, up to three months. Social services provided through Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM). Clients spend the day at this site and return to host congregation for shelter at night. Drug and alcohol free, mentally stable families. NOT AN EMERGENCY SHELTER.

Full facility day shelter, Mon – Fri only, 7:30a-4:00p. Must have referral from another agency. No new clients on Fridays. Breakfast (8a-10a), lunch (12p-2p), showers, laundry, dentist, HIV counseling, medical & psychological services, telephones, mailing address and voice mail for job leads. Van outreach distributes lunches, blankets, and information. Also provides therapeutic child development (at House of Tiny Treasures) for participants or while homeless search for jobs. Gold card services. Referrals for ID, clothing, support agencies.
Star of Hope Women & Family Shelter
Transitional Center has 6 buildings with 11 units each for families, plus 45 rooms for single women. Children bused to school through HISD. Social services and medical clinic on site. Social Security disability benefit specialist, VA benefits specialists. Residents assist in upkeep. Also, two short-term emergency shelters in downtown area.

56 bed long-term residential rehabilitation program for single women. Provides housing, job training, psychiatric services, psychotherapy, and spiritual development. Requires 90 day sobriety prior to admission. No attempts to self-harm within 90 days prior to admission. Cottage thrift shop. New resource for sober single women: apartment with all bills paid at $525.
Transitional residence for women, able to be trained in job skills. No children. Relapse Prevention class offered. Requires 60 day sobriety prior to admission. Cannot be on disability.
