YES Prep Public Schools

Our Vision

Every YES Prep student, regardless of social gap or mistake, will continue to have access to a school that delivers an exceptional, college-ready education while receiving the holistic support they deserve.

About Us

YES Prep Thrive, the first Charter Disciplinary Alternative Education Program in Texas, was founded in 2018.

THRIVE is a short-term flexible academic program that flips that narrative of a traditional alternative school on its head. At YES Prep Public Schools, we believe that even when students make mistakes, they still deserve an equitable and high quality education that is both rigorous and responsive to a student’s holistic needs. By giving students additional learning opportunities, we are ensuring that we are fulfilling YES Prep's mission of supporting ALL students.

The THRIVE Process

In-Person and Virtual Counseling Services

I. Academics

At YES Prep Thrive, we believe ALL students belong to the academic community and offer unique insights and contributions.

We believe with the right supports, students can love learning and can push past what is probable and achieve what is possible in a rigorous and nurturing environment.

We believe students learn best when we take an individualized and data driven approach to teaching and remediation of math and literacy skills. We support teachers through frequent observation, feedback, and practice and we insist on data fluency for all stakeholders.

We believe students meet and exceed their individual academic growth goals and meet all course requirements of their home campuses when they have the right specialists on campus and when teachers and leaders have truly internalized students' individual strengths and needs.

We will build confident learners who believe they belong in all academic communities, who believe with effort comes results, with self-awareness comes growth, and with academic success comes access to choice and opportunity.

II. In-Person and Virtual Counseling Services

At Thrive we believe that all students can flourish when given access to individualized supports. We believe that learning from mistakes is a normal part of adolescent development. Therefore, it is our commitment as Counselors to assist our students to develop the socioemotional skills to face life’s challenges. How do we provide this support?

During their placement at Thrive, students and their families will have access to the following counseling services:

YES Prep Thrive Facilities and Transportation

YES Prep Thrive operates out of YES Prep Northline campus located at 5815 Airline Drive, Houston TX 77076 and serves students from all YES Prep schools. Although THRIVE will share a building with the YES Prep Northline school, all THRIVE classes and activities will take place in a separate space from YES Prep Northline staff and students.

Students will have access to the transportation services at select YES Prep campuses that will be designated as pick-up and drop off locations. Thrive will offer transportation for families to and from four strategically selected YES Prep campuses in Houston. THRIVE students will not ride the bus with students that are not in Thrive program. Thrive routes will be separate from regular bus routes and will only service students in Thrive program. Parents will be required to drop-off and pick-up their child at the designated time at the bus stop. THRIVE students will be required to stay at the designated pick-up and drop-off bus location to take advantage of Thrive provided transportation services.
