Cameras in Classrooms

The image features three young individuals, each with distinct appearances and expressions, set against vibrant colored backgrounds.

As you may know, families of students in Special Education self-contained classrooms - as well as campus & district staff - have the right to request cameras within those classrooms.  This is based on Texas Administrative Code §103.DD.  If you would like to request a camera in your student’s classroom, you can use the QR code below to submit your request at any time.

Once we receive a request to install a camera, YES Prep is required to install and activate the camera within 45 school days, provided that the request meets the guidelines of the law.  If a request to install a camera is made in your child’s classroom, you will receive notification from campus staff.

Please note that if you or another family submitted a request last year, that request expired on the last day of school.  Even if a camera is still present in the classroom, the camera has been turned off and will not be recording unless we receive a new request that meets the guidelines of the law.

YES Prep staff would review the footage from the classroom if and only if we receive a written complaint of a student safety issue.  The only people with access to the video footage are the Principal on your student’s campus, the Director of Campus Operations, and our Safety & Security team at the Home Office.
