YES Prep will provide a Spring and Summer Credit Recovery program that provides equitable access for all students to regain credit. The Spring Credit Recovery program will utilize Edmentum Courseware, an online platform, and offer courses at each individual campus. This will allow YES Prep to offer more courses, reduce the cost to families and streamline logistics for quick and easy registration for families and campuses.
Spring Credit Recovery will provide opportunities for all high school students to make up any core course required for graduation. Each student may enroll up to 2 courses (1.0 credit) with the exceptions of Seniors who may enroll in more courses (up to 1.5 credits) upon approval.
Students eligible for Spring Credit Recovery are strongly encouraged to sign up to avoid retention and ensure they stay on track to meet their academic goals. If you have questions about your student’s grades, please reach out to.

Program Updates
The Spring and Summer Credit Recovery Program will utilize an online platform, Edmentum PLATO, to administer Credit Recovery. The use of an online platform, opposed to a traditional teacher instructor, allows us to offer more courses for Credit Recovery, reduces the last-minute changes to the program due to enrollment, allows for students to enroll on their home campus or a campus closer to them, and reduces the cost of each course by 50%. We still strongly value the impact of a YES Prep teacher providing additional support and instruction during the online course, so all students enrolled in Credit Recovery will take the course in a YES Prep classroom with a YES Prep instructor there to monitor the students’ progress towards completion, provide additional instruction and support when needed, and communicate with families.
Transportation
Transportation will not be offered for Spring Credit Recovery
Refunds
For families who register before February 19, 2021 we will offer a refund if YES Prep is forced to cancel the class the student registered for because of factors outside the family’s control (such as lack of teachers or funding).
Refunds will not be issued in the case of a student who fails to attend or complete Spring Credit Recovery, regardless of reason. This includes illness, family vacation, or other academic spring opportunities.
To request a refund, please email CreditRecovery@yesprep.org by February 26, 2021. We will process refunds in the order received.
**If payments were made to a campus, please make the refund request with the campus directly.
Attendance Policy
The first day of Spring Credit Recovery will be Wednesday, February 24th. All credit recovery staff and students are required to meet synchronously on this day. The credit recovery staff members will do a short presentation to show students how to log on and navigate Edmentum Courseware. Afterwards, students will all take pre-test for the courses they registered for. These pre-tests will determine, which standards the students have already mastered. These results will customize the credit recovery program for the individual students. Students will receive full credit for standards that they have already master and will only need to relearn and show mastery on standards that need improvement. This process will allow students to finish their credit recovery program sooner and increase their success towards completing the course(s).
After the first day of Spring Credit Recovery, students will be able to work through the program asynchronous until the last day of the Spring Credit Recovery (Wednesday, April 28th). Spring Credit Recovery instructors will be available 3 hours a week to help students troubleshoot technical issues and/or support them with their coursework. In incidents where students are off track towards completion of the program, then campuses may mandate that the students complete credit recovery synchronous with their Spring Credit Recovery instructor.
Should a student successfully complete their course with a passing grade prior to end of Credit Recovery, they will no longer need to attend.
Behavior Expectations
The same expectations our students follow during the school year apply at Credit Recovery.
Students who display a pattern of poor behavior or commit a serious infraction (including any offenses that would result in suspension according to the YES Prep handbook) will potentially be removed from the program without refund and will not regain the credit.
Final Grades
Students are not guaranteed to earn credit simply by attending Credit Recovery. They must demonstrate growth in key skills and successfully complete all aspects of the course with a passing grade in order for credit to be awarded.
