At YES Prep, every student has access to technology designed to amplify great teaching and prepare them for the future.

In grades PreK–5, students regularly use Chromebooks in class to build foundational digital skills and engage in meaningful practice that supports their learning. Depending on the grade level, devices may stay in the classroom or travel home to extend learning beyond the school day.
In grades 6–12, every student is issued a Dell laptop for use at school and home, ensuring they have 24/7 access to the tools and resources they need to learn, create, and grow.

Our 1:1 program ensures technology enhances—not replaces— great teaching. It’s one way we help every student graduate college-ready and future-ready.

What Is Blended Learning?

At YES Prep, blended learning means combining active, hands-on learning in the classroom with strategic use of technology to make lessons more engaging, interactive, rigorous, and personalized.

Blended learning doesn’t mean students are only learning on their own behind screens—it’s about meeting a range of needs through a mix of whole-group, small-group, and individual learning. Teachers use technology to bring lessons to life, extend conversations, and provide real-time feedback and support.

When used well, technology helps teachers make learning stronger and more engaging:

Makes learning come alive with videos, visuals, and interactive tools.
Helps students work together and share their ideas in class and online.
Gives teachers quick insight into how students are doing so they can give better feedback and support.
Lets students be creative by designing and sharing their own projects and ideas.

Schoology: Our Digital Hub for Learning

Schoology is YES Prep’s Learning Management System — the online platform where students access course materials, complete assignments, and communicate with teachers. It’s also one of the easiest ways for families to stay connected and informed about classwork.

Teachers use Schoology to:

Post assignments, lessons, and resources
Share feedback and grades on individual assignments
Facilitate class discussions and collaboration
Send announcements and reminders

Stay Connected as a Parent or Guardian

Your Schoology Guardian Account lets you see what your child is learning and how they’re progressing — all in one place.

With your guardian login, you can:

View your child’s classes, assignments, and assignment feedback
See upcoming due dates and announcements
Receive a weekly email summary of your child’s learning

Guardian Access to Schoology

How to Log In

All adults listed as a guardian in their child’s record automatically have a Schoology account. Guardians keep their same Schoology account throughout their student's time at YES Prep.

Go to app.schoology.com or download the Schoology app from your phone’s App Store.
Use the email address listed in Skyward as your username.
If this is your first time logging in, select “Forgot password” to set your password.

A parent Schoology account has two views: a parent view and a child view. A parent can view each child (very similar to PowerSchool). Once logged in, switch to Student View to see your child’s courses, assignments, and grades.

Schoology Weekly Digest Email for Guardians

Each week, parents and guardians automatically receive a Schoology Weekly Digest by email. This report gives you a quick snapshot of your child’s learning and helps you stay connected without needing to log in every day.

Your Schoology Weekly Digest includes:

✅ A list of your child’s upcoming and overdue assignments
📝 Grades and feedback shared by teachers
📅 Important class and school announcements

The email is sent to the guardian email address listed in Skyward, so make sure your contact information is current. You can adjust how often you receive these updates—weekly or daily—by logging into your Schoology parent account and updating your Notification Settings.

Reminder: Schoology is a great tool for tracking classwork and feedback, but Skyward is YES Prep’s official gradebook. Parents should always check Skyward for the most up-to-date averages and official grades.

Adjusting Your Settings

If you would like to change the frequency of notifications or receive additional emails, follow these simple steps:

When viewing your child’s account, click Settings from the parent/student profile drop-down menu in the upper right-hand corner of the Schoology platform.
From the account settings area, select the Notifications tab.
