Relay Teaching Residency
During YEAR 1, the Relay Resident is employed as an apprentice and receives support from Relay and a Resident Advisor. In YEAR 2, the Relay Resident is hired in a teaching role, while completing coursework for their MA and certification.
Classwork and courses are scheduled to avoid school conflicts, with the exception of Deliberate Practices (every Thursday from 1 - 4 pm).
Relay Resident will also earn a full-time, salaried position plus benefits from YES Prep in your second year of the residency.
Application Process and Deadlines
To be considered for admission into the Relay Teaching Residency, applicants must:
- Secure a full-time resident position in a grade and subject that matches their intended Relay program of study for the upcoming school year
- Have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 or higher
- Submit all transcripts, including an official degree-conferred undergraduate transcript that shows proof of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education (additional considerations for transcripts outside of the USA)
- Meet the transcript and exam requirements
Relay Admission Process
- Apply on our YES Prep website and the Relay/GSE Graduate School of Education website
- Complete the Teacher Programs Interest Form
- Complete an interview with the YES Prep and Relay hiring teams
- Complete all requested documents, enroll in Relay's coursework and prepare for YES Prep Orientation
Requirements
To be considered for admission into the Relay Teaching Residency, applicants must:
- Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Transcripts demonstrating evidence of minimum credit hours in:
- Core subjects EC-6 or core subjects 4-8: 12 credit hours in English, math, science and/or social studies
- ELA & reading 7-12: 12 credit hours in English
- Math 7-12: 15 credit hours in math
- Science 7-12: 15 credit hours in science
- OR a score report showing a passing score on the appropriate TExES content test

Relay Residency
Year 1: Paid $30,000 with tuition support and housing stipend
