The 2019 Texas Public School Rankings released by Children at Risk confirms that 88% of YES Prep Public School students attend an A or B school making it the highest percentage in the Greater Houston Area. Additionally, no YES Prep school received a D or F grade. This report highlights YES Prep’s unwavering commitment to provide a high-quality and equitable education for all students.
“High standards in student growth and achievement are essential to helping provide a college-ready public education for every student,” YES Prep CEO and Superintendent Mark DiBella commented. “The most recent Children at Risk rankings show that the vast majority of our children attend highly ranked schools. For this reason, we are expanding to elementary, providing high-quality education from an earlier age.”
Children at Risk, Houston-based education advocacy and research nonprofit, began presenting this report in 2006 with the goal “to help parents, educators, and community members understand how their local schools were performing.” Children at Risk uses state standardized math and reading test scores, as well as college readiness metrics, to rate every Texas public school. The rankings are based on raw achievement, year-over-year growth and performance relative to student poverty levels. (Click here for an overview of Texas Public School Rankings Methodology.)
