On Monday morning, April 25, 2022, 16 YES Prep seniors, their college counselors and their families gathered at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church for the annual Assistance League of Houston Scholarship. Returning in person after having hosted last year’s event remotely due to COVID-19, 61 students across the Houston area were invited to be recognized as the 2022 recipients.
What is the Assistance League of Houston
The Assistance League of Houston (ALH) is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that removes barriers to education, giving students hope and inspiration for a brighter tomorrow. ALH has been serving the Houston area since 1966.
YES Prep and ALH have been partnering to provide scholarships to exceptional YES Prep students since 2008!
Scholarship Celebration
This year, ALH selected 17 graduating YES Prep seniors to receive the ALH Scholarship. The 16 seniors attending were accompanied by their college counselor, their alumni transition specialists and their families.
Militza Stair, YES Prep’s director of alumni affairs, presented the scholarships to each YES Prep scholar along with Barbara Keyes, scholarship chair for the Assistance League of Houston.
