YES Prep recently hosted its 19th Annual Success After YES: College & Career Pathways Fair, where more than 3,300 juniors and seniors from 15 secondary campuses, including the founding senior class of Hobby Secondary, gathered to explore the many pathways that await after high school.

The event brought together nearly 200 representatives from colleges, universities, trade schools, and military branches across the country—all committed to helping students make informed choices about their futures.
Building Confidence and Connection
College and career readiness at YES Prep isn’t just about reaching graduation day, it’s about preparing students to step into the future with confidence and purpose.
“Students get exposure to different options where they can compare institutions they have on their lists and those they may not,” said Patrick Prusinovski, Manager of College Initiatives Projects. “It’s about helping them build confidence, communication skills, and excitement for what comes next.”
By engaging face-to-face with admissions representatives, students had the opportunity to ask personalized questions and gain insight beyond what they might read online. “These interactions help students make better decisions because they understand what is required and what opportunities exist for them,” Prusinovski added.
A Fair That Reflects Every Pathway
This year’s event featured a new layout that grouped tables by theme—HBCU, IMPACT partner schools, CTE programs, military, and Texas college systems—to help students navigate their interests more easily.
“Seeing students engage with some of our closest partners like the University of Houston, UHD, and our IMPACT schools was incredible,” said Prusinovski. “Themed rows helped students explore options that truly aligned with their goals.”

Positive Feedback From Every Corner
College representatives praised YES Prep students for their preparation, curiosity, and professionalism.
“The prep and follow-through from the students, along with the support from their instructors, is unique and will help guarantee that they excel far past schooling,” shared one college representative.
Others noted how organized and engaging the event felt, highlighting the balance between student waves and the overall smooth flow of the fair.
Students echoed the enthusiasm, sharing that they appreciated the chance to make new connections, interact with peers from other campuses, and see all types of opportunities, not just college pathways.
Empowering Students to Choose Their Path
“YES Prep’s mission is that all students have the knowledge, skills, and support they need in choosing their postsecondary option,” said Prusinovski. “Events like this give our students access and agency to see themselves as future college students, professionals, and leaders in whatever path they pursue.”
The College & Career Pathways Fair remains a cornerstone of YES Prep’s broader college-readiness model, ensuring that every student, regardless of background, can envision and prepare for a successful life after graduation.
