For high school students
Blacks at Microsoft
The Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) scholarship was founded in 1998 to support the growth and development of black employees and to encourage students to pursue a career in technology. This year, BAM will award five scholarships in the amount of $5,000 and 45 scholarships in the amount of $2,500. Scholarships will be awarded to eligible Black/African American high school seniors who are interested in pursuing careers in technology.
Dr. Arnita Young-Boswell Scholarship
The purpose of the Dr. Arnita Young-Boswell Scholarship is to recognize and honor African American students who have demonstrated academic excellence, a concern for their community, the Black Family, as well as a desire to continue their post-secondary education. This year they will award a scholarship in the amount of $1,000.
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Scholarships
The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation will be awarding scholarships to students preparing to pursue a degree in the Preforming Arts or Visual Arts. Students must be active leaders in their community and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be eligible.
For alumni, current college students
Greater Houston Frontiers Club Scholarship Inc. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship
The Greater Houston Frontiers Club (GHFC) dares students to dream big, and never stop. They not only offer education-based scholarships to make those dreams a reality, but they also award students for service, extra-curricular and leadership achievements. This year they will award scholarships to students who will be enrolled as full-time freshman with a minimum of 12 semester hours at an accredited four-year institution, or to students who are enrolled as a freshman in an accredited two-year community or technical institution with a minimum enrollment of 6 semester hours. The following awards will be granted-
- Four-year college or university scholarship award: $1,000
- Community/technical institution scholarship award: $500
