Additionally, our application for the 2022-2023 school year opens on October 29, 2021.  YES Prep accepts applications year-round, however we encourage all families to submit their student’s application as soon as the application window opens. This gives students the best chance to secure a seat for the upcoming school year. Want us to remind you when the application opens? Join our interest list here.

What does it mean if my student is waitlisted?

Once the student lottery application window closed in February, we ran a random lottery to fill the seats for the upcoming school year. Families who were selected, were asked to accept their student’s seat by the end of March. All other families that applied were placed on the waitlist.

How does the waitlist work? Applications are placed on the waitlist in the order they are received prioritizing priority (in-zone, sibling, and employee child) applicants at the top. Many students are accepted off the waitlist each year well into the summer and through the start of the school year. The waitlist is automated based on seat being accepted or declines. If an offer is declined, the system opens an additional seat that a campus can re-offer to the next applicant on the waitlist.

If I applied last year and was on the waitlist, do I need to apply again this year?

The answer is YES. The waitlist does not carry over from year to year. New applications are necessary for every school year. Students who were on the waitlist for the previous school year during the previous enrollment season are invited to submit a new application for the upcoming school year.

I want my student to attend Northbrook Middle or High School, can I still apply?

Yes, student lottery application for our YES Prep Northbrook Middle and Northbrook High School are run separately through Spring Branch Independent School District. While their student lottery closed in January and the late application window closed mid-July, we still have availability at both YES Prep Northbrook Middle and High School, so we encourage you to apply. To learn more about the Northbrook Choice Program, click here.
