Financial Literacy for All
In addition to their tremendous philanthropic impact across the city, Capital One is also deeply committed to improving the financial literacy and economic mobility of all Houston families. On November 9, YES Prep welcomed Capital One associates Demetrius Seaforth and Darnell Lynch to a recent Family Fellows meeting to facilitate a Financial Education workshop, Savings Success. The informative presentation focused on the integration of behavioral economic tools that promote behavioral change, and the clients also developed a personalized savings plan that will lead them into reaching a savings goal.
As a single mother with five children, this session gave me the blueprint to start saving in a way that is realistic and motivated me as well. I was truly empowered!

Engage, Educate and Empower
YES Prep is committed to working together with students, families, and community stakeholders to achieve ambitious student learning goals. Parents and families play an important role as their child’s first teachers and are valued partners in their child’s schooling and will be included in appropriate decision-making opportunities to support student achievement. Family Fellows are selected by YES Prep Principals at the campus level to help support and develop meaningful opportunities for parents and families to effectively engage in the school and community to improve student learning outcomes.
YES Prep is deeply grateful to Capital One for the many ways they impact our students and families, and for their unwavering support of our mission. Their incredible generosity opens the doors of opportunity for Houston’s children and their families.
