Shirley and Brian Colona are dedicated philanthropists committed to making a lasting impact on the Houston community.

As chairs of the Eighth Annual Leading Houston Forward Luncheon, the Colonas have played a pivotal role in the event’s success, helping to raise over $1 million this year to support YES Prep’s mission of providing high-quality education to underserved students. 

The Colonas are long-time supporters of YES Prep, including Brian’s service on the Board of Directors and leadership on the YES Prep Energy Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament Steering Committee.  

Outside of YES Prep, they are also champions in the healthcare arena highlighted by Shirley’s long-term leadership within the Kingwood-based Mothers Against Cancer organization and where in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital both have been recognized as "Research Champions" for their generosity impacting pediatric cancer research. 

In the arts area, they are founding and steadfast supporters of Houston Contemporary Dance Company – a contemporary ballet company providing dance instructions to dancers of all ages while providing a home for a dynamic contemporary dance company that gives Houston’s most talented artists a chance to “stay home” and create contemporary performance dance at a level that’s putting Houston on the map.

And don’t miss the Houston SaberCats – Houston’s professional rugby team. The Colonas are part of the ownership group bringing this hard-hitting game into the Houston sports landscape. GO CATS!
