Learn how you can be a better ally for the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride Month

Pride celebrations originated a year after the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising took place in New York City.  Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, two transgender women, emerged from these events and are recognized as leaders of the Gay Liberation Movement.

This month commemorates all the LGBTQ+ community has achieved over the years, honors LGBTQ culture, and sheds light on political issues that continue to harm the LGBTQ community.  The next sections include a few resources on how you and your family can be better allies to the LGBTQ+ community.
