At YES Prep Public Schools, strong instruction is driven by educators who pair purpose with preparation and Kairon Arceneaux, a Reading Interventionist at YES Prep Southside Elementary, is a powerful example of that impact.

With five years of experience across Special Education, first grade, and fourth-grade English Language Arts, Kairon has focused her career on helping students build the foundational literacy skills they need to succeed. Her work has led to measurable results, including earning the highest 1st grade reading module scores in the district and receiving the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Exemplary designation.

An Unexpected Path into Teaching

Kairon’s entry into education began when her teacher profile caught the attention of a campus administrator, resulting in a call that led her into Special Education. Reflecting on that moment, she points to a lifelong motivation that made the transition feel natural.

“I always had the passion to help people,” Kairon shared. “I like seeing the minds of little people grow and the excitement they feel when they achieve their goals.”

That passion continues to guide her work and approach to students each day.

Instruction Grounded in Purpose and Relationships

When it comes to planning instruction, Kairon is intentional about starting with the end in mind. She shared that she relies on backward planning to ensure lessons are aligned to student goals and needs.

Equally important, she emphasizes the environment she creates for her students. “I set a strong and firm platform for my students, letting them know we are a family first,” she said. “I push all my students to achieve their goals, no matter what.”

That combination of structure, consistency, and care has shaped her success as a Reading Interventionist and educator. Beyond her classroom, Kairon also serves as a Course Facilitator, Grade Level Chair, and Texas Tech Mentor, supporting fellow educators as they grow their practice.

Recognition That Affirms the Work

While Kairon never entered teaching seeking recognition, she shared that being acknowledged for her work at YES Prep has been one of the most impactful experiences of her career.

“I didn’t realize how many people thought I was doing a great job,” she reflected. “I never got into teaching to please anyone, but it feels amazing when others see all the hard work you put in for your students.” Her TIA Exemplary designation reflects both her instructional excellence and the consistent impact she has on student learning.

Why YES Prep

Kairon describes YES Prep as a place where educators are encouraged to grow and stretch professionally.

For educators considering the profession, “I feel YES Prep is a place where educators can grow and achieve their greatest potential, be prepared to work hard and be ready to learn some amazing things along the way,” she shared.

Through her commitment to literacy, leadership, and student growth, Kairon Arceneaux continues to build strong foundations that support student success far beyond the classroom.
