On Saturday, January 27, hundreds of YES Prep students and families gathered at Rice Stadium for a celebration of 25 years of impact in Houston.
YES Fest was a celebration dedicated to current and prospective YES Prep families, as well as our hardworking staff members. The day served as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds within the YES Prep community, fostering a sense of unity and belonging. The experience for families was one of celebration, food, family, and fun!
“There are so many opportunities for kids to have fun today with their family,” says Chief External Officer Nella García Urban. “There's food and lots of activities on the Rice football field. There are tons of kids out there right now having fun and being together as a family. We have bounce houses, face painting and lots of fun today for everyone."
YES Fest provided a unique opportunity for families and staff members to connect on a personal level. We believe strengthening these community ties contributes to a positive and supportive environment for everyone within the YES Prep family.

The celebration was made possible with the support of community partners who hosted tables in the stadium concourse for families to learn more about YES Prep resources, play games, and win fun prizes.
“We want to extend a big thank you to Rice University, my alma mater, for hosting all of our families and staff here today and helping us celebrate 25 years of YES Prep,” García Urban expressed her gratitude. “We also have many incredible community partners that have helped make today possible. Thank you for engaging with our families, providing resources, and making today extra special.”
Following the event, all YES Prep families received free tickets to the Rice vs. Tulsa Men's basketball game.
