YES Prep Public Schools

YES Prep, one of the fastest-growing and highest-performing public charter school systems in the United States, opened three new elementary schools this school year. This milestone represents a significant step toward providing more Houston families with access to high-quality, free public education, setting a new standard for educational excellence in communities that need it most.

Ribbon cutting celebrations for Hobby Elementary, North Rankin Elementary and Southwest Oaks Elementary

In August, YES Prep celebrated the ribbon cutting for YES Prep Hobby Elementary in Southeast Houston, along with YES Prep North Rankin Elementary in Northwest Houston and YES Prep Southwest Oaks Elementary in Southwest Houston.

All three schools welcomed over 3,000 new students in pre-kindergarten through second grade on August 15. Each school will add a grade level annually to eventually serve students from pre-K through fifth grade, providing a strong educational foundation that feeds directly into YES Prep’s high-performing secondary schools for grades 6-12.

The ribbon cutting event brought together excited students, families, neighbors and community leaders, all eager to embark on a new journey with YES Prep.

Groundbreaking for Brays Oaks Elementary and White Oak Elementary

In August 2025, YES Prep will further extend its impact by opening two additional elementary schools: YES Prep Brays Oaks Elementary and YES Prep White Oak Elementary. Located in high-need neighborhoods, these schools will provide much-needed educational opportunities by offering bilingual public education and engaging programming that focuses on reading, writing and STEM education.

As with all YES Prep campuses, these schools will be tuition-free and provide essential support services, such as uniforms, meals, electronic devices, transportation, special education, English language learning, healthcare and mental health services.

YES Prep leadership and the schools founding leaders were joined at the groundbreaking by community members, elected officials and building partners.
