Deadline to apply for the 2022 – 2023 student lottery is Feb. 11
The deadline is fast approaching for Houston families seeking the highest quality, tuition-free, public education for their children. Families interested in enrolling students at one of YES Prep Public Schools’ 25 campuses for the 2022-2023 school year can sign up for the latest student lottery 24 hours a day through Feb. 11.
YES Prep—the public charter school system that helps graduates earn college degrees at four times the rate of their peers—continues to expand and plans to open two more elementary schools next school year.
All of YES Prep’s eligible high schools are ranked in the top 10 percent in the state and nation by U.S. News and World Report, and caring YES Prep educators continue to raise the bar for what’s possible in public education, empowering Houston students to succeed in college and pursue lives of opportunity. Most students enter YES Prep campuses performing below grade level and graduate among the first in their family to go to college or a military academy.
“Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing a fun and inspiring environment with accelerated learning, caring support systems, and whatever children may need to thrive,” said Mark DiBella, YES Prep Public Schools CEO.

In August, YES Prep will welcome students as young as prekindergarten to its newest campuses—YES Prep Airline Elementary and YES Prep East End Elementary—giving Houston families more options for their children’s education.
Nationally recognized YES Prep schools are open to and tuition-free for all children. To enroll, families sign up for a random, automated lottery, which the district uses for schools when there are more students interested in attending than available classroom space. The lottery is open 24/7 through Feb. 11. Applications received after February 11 will be offered as seats become available.
In addition to rigorous college-forward education and enrichment programs, all YES Prep campuses provide meals, devices, transportation, special education, English language learning, and access to healthcare, mental health, and other student support services.
