OCTOBER 14, 2022 – YES Prep Public Schools, a nationally ranked district that serves more than 18,000 students on 24 campuses throughout Houston, invites area families to sign up for the student lottery opening on October 14. With six elementary (pre-K - 5th grade) and 18 secondary (6 - 12th grade) schools, YES Prep continues to provide Houston families with the best quality education for their children.
New families can register for the 2023-24 school year lottery by visiting yesprep.org/SayYES. As a public charter school network, YES Prep uses a random, automated lottery for schools when there are more students interested in attending than available classroom seats. All interested families are encouraged to apply as soon as the lottery window opens and submit applications for up to three schools to have the best chance to attend YES Prep.
“We are excited to welcome new students and their families to the growing YES Prep family,” said Mark DiBella, CEO of YES Prep Public Schools. “Our incredible teachers and staff members are dedicated to providing a fun, inspiring, yet rigorous environment where all children can thrive.”
YES Prep’s schools are tuition-free and open to all children with no special admissions requirements. In addition to rigorous education and enrichment programs, all YES Prep schools provide meals, laptops/tablets, transportation, special education, English language learning, and access to healthcare, mental health, and other student support services.
“I chose YES Prep because they really care about my children, not only making sure they progress academically but socially and emotionally as well,” shared Raven L., a YES Prep parent. “Their teachers always keep me informed, and I love the welcoming and family-like culture of the school.”
The student lottery will run as follows:
-
February 16 & 17, 2023: randomized student draw will be held.
-
February 22, 2023: lottery results will be communicated to Kindergarten through 12th-grade families
-
February 24, 2023: Pre-K families will receive a communication with next steps.
Note: Registration for partnership schools, Northbrook middle and high schools, is available via Spring Branch Independent School District’s lottery. Additional information can be found at yesprep.org/sayYES.
Families seeking more information about YES Prep schools are also invited to attend one of our upcoming Experience YES school tour events for an opportunity to tour a school, meet a YES Prep principal and staff, and learn about the many programs and supports offered on campuses.
