Superior Fiscal Management in FIRST

While continuing to expand to serve more students, YES Prep Public Schools once again earned the state’s top “A- Superior” rating for fiscal management. YES Prep earned the ranking from the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST), which all public schools across the state report into. All expenditures are under one organization that is audited annually.

“FIRST ensures that Texas public schools are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and that they improve those practices. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to better manage their financial resources to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes,” according to the Texas Education Agency.

“The thousands of students, employees, and their families across the Houston area rely on our schools to be strong and stable—academically and fiscally,” said YES Prep Public Schools CEO Mark DiBella. “We’re proud of our consistently high FIRST ratings and will continue to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible as the number of students we serve grows.”

YES Prep Public Schools serves more than 15,000 students on 21 campuses and is expanding. Many YES Prep schools, including new elementary campuses, are currently enrolling students for the 2021-22 school year. YES Prep Public Schools are open to and tuition-free for all children with no special requirements for admittance. In addition to a college-ready education and enrichment programs, YES Prep campuses provide free meals, devices, transportation, special education, English language learning, and access to healthcare, mental health, and other student support services.
